According to Google, style is defined as:

  • a distinctive appearance, typically determined by the principles according to which something is designed.
  • a manner of doing something.

To me, style is how you want to show up and make your mark in the world. I think of style as very closely connected to personal brand, and if you’ve been following my blogs at all you know that I’m very big proponent of knowing your personal brand. It goes to say that you should also know your style so that it matches and compliments your personal brand.

Take a moment to evaluate how your style is showing up. For example, look at your clothes, how you market yourself on social media and in-person and how you engage with people in the workplace. Do those all synch up with how you want your personal brand to be perceived? If not, you’ve got some work to do with aligning your style with your personal brand.
