Propping my feet up while enjoying some fresh air at a conference in Las Vegas

I love attending conferences. Meeting new people… Learning new material… The Tweetups… I can go on-and-on about the opportunities of conferences.

The only thing I don’t like is that it’s too much information at once. Do you ever get that feeling of “Holy cow! My brain is going to explode!” when you’re at a conference?

One thing I do, is find time to relax and chill out. I’ve found that even 10-15 minutes alone is a great way to let my brain relax and disengage.

At a recent conference in Las Vegas, I took the opportunities to relax outside by the pool. The nice thing about being outside is that the glare on my smart phone was so strong that I couldn’t read emails or Twitter updates, which helped me to really disengage and just chill out.

I really think that these poolside breaks helped me to relax and be mentally healthier. My overall experience during the 3 day conference was positive and I left with my cup full – in a good, healthy way.

Just like in regular day-to-day business life, it’s important to take breaks and recharge your batteries – and I’m not referring to the batteries of your smart phone. Rather, I mean relax and chill out for a little bit. It makes a big difference! Not to mention, more and more studies are coming out about the benefits of taking small breaks throughout the day.

How have you taken breaks during conferences?
