Looking for a job can be a daunting and overwhelming experience. When people tell you to go networking, as a job seeker that can feel embarrassing to show up to a networking event for the first time… almost like you have a sign on your chest that reads “Overwhelmed job seeker – can you help me??”. Ugh. Talk about awkward.
Instead of running all over town to attend a variety of networking events, start first with the people that you know. Simply open up your contacts list in your cell phone and start with contacting those people. Well, contact them if you’re ready to have a conversation about what you are looking for in your next job.
